Caddie Woodlawn - Carol Ryrie Brink

The strange thing is I just found out this is a classic. What happened was that I brought the book to school  and one of the teachers remarked, "Oh' you're reading that book, I read it when I was a little kid!" Well, I wasn't that surprised because a lot of the books on the list are classics but still.....
Anyway I just got a little side tracked. This book is pretty interesting and I really like that Caddie (the girl this whole book is about) is friends with the natives that live near her home in Menomonie, Wisconsin. They're actually called savages but I like to call them natives. Her mom is afraid of the Indians. Whenever Indian John (one of Caddie's friends) visits Caddie, her mom always gets scared and gives him whatever food she has available because she thinks he will kill her family.
Oh which reminds me, I absolutely positively have to tell you one of the things Caddie's mom says." I don't know how you are friends with these savages but if they eat like Indian John does I am positive we will be eaten out of the house." It might not be the exact quote but what she says in the book is something along those lines.
If you are wondering about Caddie's personality she is a tom boy and she likes to fix clocks!

Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card

Wow, this is an awesome book!  Exciting, sad, happy, interesting are some of the words to describe this book. For this post, I was thinking of writing some of the good things about Ender's Game and then letting you guys leave comments. For example let's say I wrote " This book is very inspiring." You may leave a comment that says " What is inspiring about this book?". I will answer your questions on my comments page.
  1. My favorite characters are Ender and Valentine.
  2. Ender has gone through a lot of hardships in his life.
  3. Ender killed the biggest enemy on Earth when he was               eleven.
  4. Ender didn't mean to kill the biggest enemy on Earth.
  5. Ender's brother, Peter used to skin squirrels alive and watch them die.
Please don't forget to leave comments. I am getting lonely. :(

Enjoy the movie trailer for Ender's Game. If you watch the movie remember to read the book too!

Poppy - Avi

Oooh! this is a really good book. My favorite character is the main character, Poppy. She is a very daring creature for a mouse. I mean when you picture a mouse you don't picture it holding a porcupine quill and stabbing it into a great-horned owl's talon. Right? Or left?

My least favorite character is Mr. Ocax, a great horned owl. If you read this book don't be fooled by his "niceness". Here's why, in the beginning Mr. Ocax says he is protecting all the mice in Dimwood Forest from porcupines, when in truth he is afraid of them!

Ivan the One and Only - Katherine Applegate

This is an interesting book. It is written in poem form but DO NOT BE FOOLED! This isn't a poem so if you don't like poems you will still like this book............ I hope.
My favorite character is Ivan ( obviously) and I don't really have a least favorite character. Although sometimes Keep (the person who took care of Ivan ) was a little mean to Ruby (a baby elephant who lived in the mall with Ivan).    There are some sad parts in the book like when Stella, the elephant, dies because her foot is so badly infected. Also, when Ivan and Ruby have to leave Keep's shopping mall and go to a zoo.
Thankfully, like a fairy tale all goes well at the zoo. Ivan gets to see Ruby everyday and he even gains leadership of the gorilla pack.
Here is the book trailer for you to watch

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian - Sherman Alexie

I like this book a lot, but if I were the author I would not use bad words at all!

My favorite part is when Junior makes the best steal in school history during the basketball game. There are some sad parts in the book. I feel very bad for Junior when his Grandma, sister, and his dad's best friend died. The strangest part is his sister was burned to death and she didn't even feel it because she was too drunk!

The Wolves of Willoughby Chase - Joan Aiken

This is quite an interesting book! I am so happy this was one of the hundred books! If you ask me why, I will tell you because it is a very intense book. Some characters like Mr. Grisham are in disguise. The saddest part in this book is when Bonnie finds out her parents died! You should totally read this book! I like/loved this book because it was very intriguing and interesting!
If you liked this book you most definitely love the other books Joan Aiken wrote. http://www.joanaiken.com/
